I have etc. to acknowledge
the receipt of your despatch No. 365 of
the 13th of June reporting that you have
dispensed with the services of
Chiu Shai, Pier Foreman in the Public
Works Department, on the grounds of
inefficiency and recommending the
grant to him of an annual allowance of
$182.65.
2. The reduction of pension in a
case of this kind would be contrary to
established practice, and I accordingly
approve the grant to Chiu Shai of an
allowance equivalent to what he would
